Prince Edward County Jail Roster
Prince Edward County does not operate a separate county jail roster under the Sheriff's Office. Current adult jail custody runs through Piedmont Regional Jail, a regional jail authority in Farmville serving six counties. The official PRJ Offender Lookup page embeds the JailTracker/Public Safety Cloud roster and says it is for offenders incarcerated at PRJ and under PRJ custody.
The roster is useful for current booking status, agency, charges, bond, holds, and release fields when those fields are enabled. It is not the right source for sentenced state prisoners after transfer, ICE detainees at Farmville Detention Center, or sentenced federal prisoners. The PRJ page does not publish a refresh interval or a released-record retention period, so a missing record should be checked against other official channels before drawing a conclusion.
Search Prince Edward County Inmates
Use the PRJ site as the official wrapper for the roster because it gives the local context and jail contact path. The embedded public roster may require JavaScript and may show captcha controls. A name search is the practical first step unless a booking, arrest, or offender identifier is already known from PRJ or court records.
- Open the Piedmont Regional Jail Offender Lookup.
- Enter a last name and add a first name when common names return too many possible matches.
- Use agency, current-only, released-since, or captcha controls if the live roster displays them.
- Open the person profile instead of relying only on the result row.
- If the record is missing, call PRJ at (434) 392-1601 and ask for records, booking, or the watch commander as the question requires.
The roster screenshot captured for this project shows the PRJ offender lookup entry point and embedded roster area on the official jail site.
This image is useful because the search starts on the PRJ page even when the live roster interface loads inside a vendor frame.
Prince Edward County Roster Fields
The research found roster app labels in the public JailTracker/Public Safety Cloud code. Some labels are model fields rather than guaranteed visible form controls, but they show how the Prince Edward County inmate records search is structured.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| First Name | Text | Unspecified | App strings include firstNameSearchText and name-search logic. |
| Last Name | Text | Likely for name search | App strings include RequiresNameSearch. |
| Search Type | Option | Unspecified | Released-since and current-only values appear in app labels. |
| Captcha | Image/text | Conditional | CaptchaRequired and userEnteredCaptchaCode appear in the app. |
| Agency | Dropdown/filter | Unspecified | AgencyName, AgencyFriendlyName, and MasterAgencyID labels appear. |
Prince Edward County Inmate Profile
A PRJ profile can combine booking and court-adjacent fields. It is still a jail custody record, not the final court record. The profile may show booking charge labels before the Commonwealth's Attorney amends, dismisses, reduces, or replaces charges in court.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Name and identifiers | First, middle, last name, offender value, booking number, or arrest number where enabled. |
| Booking | Original booking date/time and release-date fields if displayed. |
| Agency | Arresting or holding agency labels. |
| Charges | Charge description, code, crime type, level, counts, and charge status. |
| Bond | Bond type and bond amount per charge where the charge grid shows bond fields. |
| Holds | Hold type, reason, hold date, and hold expiration fields for another agency or case. |
| Image | Offender image fields exist, but public display can be hidden by agency configuration. |
Prince Edward County Record Fallbacks
When the online roster fails, call PRJ at (434) 392-1601. The contact page lists Records extension 732 and records fax (434) 392-5932. For county law-enforcement records, the Prince Edward County Sheriff's Office is at 124 N. Main Street in Farmville, with office phone 434-392-8101. The county FOIA policy names Chief Deputy Jimmy Farley, Lt. Joseph Sprague, and Bernice Letterman as Sheriff's Department FOIA contacts.
Requests under the Prince Edward County FOIA policy may be made by mail, fax, email, in person, or telephone. The policy says a request does not need to be written or use the term FOIA, but written requests make it easier to define the record. Ask for existing records with reasonable specificity, such as a full name, booking date, agency, and booking or arrest number if known.
VINELink is a useful alert channel when release or transfer notice matters, but it is not a full copy of the PRJ record. The Sheriff's Office promotes the P3 Tips app for public-safety tips, not inmate lookup. GettingOut, ViaPath, OffenderConnect, and ConnectNetwork are communication or deposit tools, not roster apps. Keep those services separate from the actual Prince Edward County jail roster search.

Prince Edward County Visitation Records
PRJ visitation is organized by housing location. The official PRJ visitation page says visits must be scheduled by phone at least 48 hours in advance, calls to schedule are accepted Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., each offender receives one visitation slot per week, visits may last up to 30 minutes, and up to six visitors may attend. Arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled visit for check-in and search.
| Day | Housing Location | Visitation Hours |

The PRJ visitation screenshot in the image set shows the pod-by-pod table and online visit instructions from the jail page.
The schedule matters for inmate records because housing location can control the correct visit day and call-ahead window.
Prince Edward County Inmate Contact
PRJ says personal mail from family and friends, including letters, pictures, and drawings, is digitally delivered through the tablet Facility Messages app under the free profile. The published format is facility and state, inmate name and identifier, P.O. Box 247, Phoenix, MD 21131. Do not invent property or mail rules beyond the PRJ instructions because the inspected pages did not publish a full contraband or property list.
| Service | Provider or Detail |
|---|---|
| Video visits | GettingOut, with debit or credit card account and a fee. |
| Phone calls | Debit calls from offender funds or collect calls with payment plan. |
| Phone list | Each offender may have 10 numbers on the phone list. |
| Deposits | Postal money order by mail or front desk, lobby kiosk cash, and OffenderConnect online. |
| Commissary timing | Funds must post before 6:00 a.m. Monday for weekly commissary purchases. |
Note: Confirm current custody with PRJ before sending money, because transfers and holds can change quickly.
Prince Edward County Booking and Bond
A Prince Edward County arrest can be made by the Sheriff's Office, Farmville Police, Virginia State Police, a campus police agency, or another law-enforcement agency. The local adult jail destination is usually PRJ. Booking can include identity work, search, property inventory, photograph, fingerprints, medical or mental-health screening, classification, housing assignment, and later court review. The public roster may not update at the exact moment intake starts.
Bond information on a jail record should be verified before anyone pays. The PRJ app strings include BondType and BondAmount fields, but the research did not find a local PRJ bond-posting fee table or public page explaining payment methods. A hold from another case, another jurisdiction, probation or parole, ICE, USMS, or a no-bond order can prevent release even when one charge lists a bond. Court records and PRJ records should be checked together.
- Recognizance
- A signed promise to appear and obey release terms.
- Surety bond
- A bond backed by a bondsman or surety.
- No-bond hold
- A custody status where release is not available until later court action or another hold clears.
- Detainer
- A request or notice from another agency that can block release.
State Federal and ICE Inmates
Use the VADOC Inmate and Supervisee Locator after a Prince Edward case results in state custody or supervision. VADOC says its locator includes VADOC institutions, probationers and parolees, institutional hospitals, people housed in local or regional jails under VADOC authority, and CCAP participants. It is updated daily and carries a warning that data may be inaccurate or outdated.
Use the BOP inmate locator for sentenced federal prisoners from 1982 forward. Use ICE ODLS for Farmville Detention Center detainees. VINELink is useful for release alerts and victim notification, but it is not a complete substitute for PRJ records. The Sheriff promotes the P3 Tips app for tips, not a jail roster.
Farmville Detention Center sits in Prince Edward County, but it is an ICE detention facility listed by CoreCivic. Its phone number is (434) 395-8114, and ICE detainees are searched by A-number or biographical information through ICE ODLS. A person can be in the same town as PRJ and still be outside the county jail roster system.
VADOC also lists a Farmville District 24 probation and parole office, but that office supervises people in the community and is not a jail or prison facility.
